I AM USING WINPLANNER 3.1.. IT WORKS GREAT. I GET ALL INSTRUMENT STUFF AND ATC. MY QUESTION IS ABOUT THE FS98 SCENERY AND HOW FS98 HANDLES 3RD PARTY SCENERY.

A:

All the scenery you add, if you add it to the scenery library properly, will appear as you move through it or go to it in the World-Go To-Airport menu. Be sure to click the "FS6.0 and before" button when looking for any added airports. Gee, it seems like a long time ago when you had to hit "L" and insert a floppy to change scenery areas. I don't even remember which version that was in last. It's up to the scenery designer to handle the interface of the new scenery with the FS98 scenery. Sometimes there are "exclude" files that block out any FS98 scenery that doesn't align or merge with the new scenery. Sometimes, the new scenery just adds enhancements to the FS98 scenery. Because of that, some scenery for FS5.1 or FS95 will show misaligned air strips or shifted scenery objects from the FS98 scenery. The scenery in FS98 has been slightly shifted here and there to account for magnetic variables that have changed since or were not allowed for in FS95 or FS5.1. There is a good instruction for adding scenery in the "readme" file that comes with the FS98 program.
