HOW DO I CREATE SCENERY?

A:

In addition to the Airport 2.02 program mentioned in an earlier post, Abacus puts out a commercial product called Airport & Scenery Design. Since you mentioned that, like me, you're getting too old (in my case far too old) for heavy programming, A&SD is for the most part a user friendly, point and click program, complete with a large array of freeware macros. The drawback - it costs in this country anywhere from $30 - $50, which may be even more in England. One other plus, however, is that they do give you excellent tech support, with the well known scenery designer Justin Tyme as their consultant. (And no, I don't have stock in Abacus - I actually bought the program because I'm from Florida and as a bonus they were offering ninety Florida air- ports designed by Peter Jacobsen. It's only been recently that I started, in almost total computer innocence, to design my own scenery.)

There are two very good scenery designers that I recommend to new scenery designers. The first is Airport 2.02, available free on this site. The second is Airport and Scenery Designer (ASD) from Abacus (not free but very affordable). Both are very user friendly and you can create some great scenery. My personal favorite is ASD.
