SOME IDEAS ON DEALING WITH "GENERAL PROTECTION FAULTS" IN FS98:
A:
Suddenly today I could not start FS98. Every time I did I got a GPF. I hadn't installed anything new and couldn't understand my problem and was not happy at the prospect of re-installing FS98.
After thinking some more I realized that I had exited FS98 the last time while in the full screen mode. I had stumbled on that capability and thought I'd try it. Up to this point I had always been running FS98 in 1024x768 and had no problems.
Based on a message, I took a chance and changed my display mode to 800x600 and lo and behold FS98 started ok but in full screen mode.
I changed back to windows mode and exited FS98. Then I changed my display back to 1024x768 and restarted FS98 and all went well.
I'm not sure I understand why this happened but the lesson I learned is NOT to exit FS98 in full screen mode.
I hope this helps someone else.

Not sure what your problem was, but I exit in full screen mode all the time
and never had a problem. I'm always in 800X600 though, maybe it's a prob with
exiting in Full screen AND 1024X568.

His message seemed to say exactly that. If he exits in full screen mode which
is 800x600 and has a different resolution in windows, the program will hiccup
when starting up the next time. If he has 800x600 in windows, every thing
works fine. Good information.
