Q:

HOW DO I SOLVE THE "G3D.DLL" ERROR?

A:

After reading and responding to queries on FS98 forum, scenery forum, others, I discovered there are an number of simmers with the same g3d.dll error problem. Though trial and error and many hours, I found the solution. I thought all your readers would like to know in case they enounter the g3d.dll error which kicks them out of FS98 and CFS. This is the solution:

You're not going to believe this...I've been a long time victim of the g3d.dll error syndrome. No matter what I do, I just can't escape the g3d.dll error, it just follows me around. Well, I like to think I'm smarter than this box they call a computer, there has to be a logical solution, even if I can't find the problem...yeh, right...bear with me.

I uninstalled FS98 and reinstalled it, bare bones, and slowly, painstakingly added aircraft and scenery until the dreaded g3d.dll error showed up again. It didn't seem to matter which scenery or aircraft or none at all, the error came back. It must be the Direct-x 7, no, it started with Direct-x 6, so it wasn't that, but one of you gave me the clue...You said you had the same problem except you had a different video card...walla...just reinstall your newest drivers for your video card. After you reinstall all your scenery, aircraft, etc. and Direct-X 7, it's too easy.

I don't know if it will work for you but it sure did for me. I just did circuits with my C-130 for one hour, no g3d.dll error...flew in Canada3000 A330-200 from LFPG to Keflavik to Fort Smith to CYEG (home base, I work there in the tower), Anchorage to Meigs, no crashes yet...Good luck, let me know if it works for you.
