11.6 How can I make FS98 run in the background while I do other things?
From FlightSim
Q:
HOW TO I MAKE FLIGHTSIM RUN IN A WINDOW SO I CAN WORK ON OTHER THINGS WHILE TAKING A LONG FLIGHT? CAN I EVEN DO THAT?
A:
Yes you can do it. If FS98 is running in a full window, hit Alt- Enter to change to a window, bring up the main menu for a new program, then you can click on the blue line on top of the screen & pull it down to check on FS98 or click on the - square at the upper right to move the program off the screen. Click on program on the screen bottom to bring it back. I'm doing this right now , for the double check--- it works.

The way Windows works is just like that. Turn off the "Pause on task
switching" option and minimize the program, if you have the airplane
stabilized or on auto pilot. You can then run all sorts of programs
while FS98 chugs along in the background. Incidentally, I have FS98
and Windows Explorer loaded right now and I can switch to them for
reference at any time and then come back here. Windows95 is the
neatest thing since sliced bread, and I remember when bread wasn't
sliced.
If you have a "Windows" keyboard, you can press the Windows key when you are in full screen 3D and the task bar and the start menu become visible. When you close the other program or recall FS98 the program goes right back to 3D.
