Q:

SOME OF MY DOWNLOADED AIRCRAFT (ZERO, ULTRALITE, LONG EZ) SEEM TO HAVE WHAT LOOKS TO BE C-182 PANELS. AM I DOING SOMETHING WRONG, AND IF SO HOW SHOULD I CORRECT THE PROBLEM? THE AIRPLANES FLY OK, JUST THAT THE PANEL DOESN'T SEEM TO FIT. CAN YOU TAKE A PANEL FROM ONE AIRCRAFT AND PUT IT IN ANOTHER, IF SO WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE?

A:

Okay, here's the deal with add-on aircraft. When you run them through the converter the converter looks to see what type of airplane configuration it is converting. If it is a single engine prop with retractable gear it give you a Cessna 182RG panel (with a generic airspeed gauge instead of the default gauge). If you are converting a light jet you basically get a Lear panel etc.

It is pretty easy to change panels. If you already have a panel you like, all you have to do is point the aircraft you want to change the panel on to the panel you want to use. You do this in either the aircraft.cfg or the panel.cfg depending on what the particular case is.

Try looking at the way your default planes are set-up. Notice how the aircraft.cfg has the line PANEL=. This refers the program to the panel folder in that airplanes main folder. Now if you look at the panel folder you'll see a panel.cfg and some *.bmp's. The panel.cfg points the program to the appropriate bitmaps and gauges.

Now look at one of your converted airplane's folders. If you look at the aircraft.cfg file you'll see has the PANEL= line, but if you go to the panel.cfg file you'll see it now points you to the converter folder with the line ALIAS=FSFSConv\panel.Jet.Light.1 for example. In this case it is pointing to the generic light jet with 1 engine.

Hopefully this is enough info to get you going. If not repost and I'll try to help you a little more
