HOW DO I DO A SPIN IN FS98 AND THEN RECOVER FROM IT?

FS98 doesn't spin at all. A spin is an autorotation with one wing stalled and one wing flying. Some aircraft will recover eventually by releasing controls. Some will not. Many experts consider that you're not fully into a spin until (at least in many aircraft) the second or third turn. At that point, few aircraft recover properly on their own. For most light aircraft, the proper technique is to put in full rudder opposite the spin and, as the spin stops, add a large amount of forward pressure, the recover from the resulting high-speed dive.

Ailerons can affect spin recovery, as can power. Some aircraft have more specific needs for recovery, including aileron with or against the spin, etc. I'm not sure we even want to get into flat spins, inverted spins, etc. Also, most jet aircraft, especially those with swept wings, high horizontal tail, or both can soon be totally unrecoverable. Even light piston twins can have more than their share of problems, especially due to the extra inertia imparted by the wing mounted engines. I suggest that for the sake of simplicity, we mostly limit the present discussion to light, single engine piston aircraft which are APPROVED for spins -- some are not.

Note that I've not yet been able to get either FS98 or FU2 into an actual spin. FU2 gets closer, but is really a constantly accelerating sort-of vertical roll. Not even a proper spiral.

Now that I've confused things even further...
