Crossfeed is a way of shifting fuel from one wing to another. Normally, the engines on a multiengine plane use fuel from the tanks on their side. If one of the engines were to fail its fuel could be used by the good engine by selecting crossfeed. In FS98 the crossfeed gauge is disabled by default, but you can change that. Even then I haven't noticed that it actually does anything.
