Q:

MY PROBLEM IS THAT WHEN I CLICK ON LLADD.EXE OR A SHORTCUT FOR I SEE THE LLADD DOS WINDOW OPEN FOR 1 SECOND OR LESS THEN IT DISAPPEARS. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO PROCEED BEYOND THIS POINT BECAUSE I CAN'T WORK IN THE LLADD WINDOW.

A:

You must select DOS mode first (Start menu). Then CD to the lladd directory. You must have the *.mdl file in that directory for the aircraft you want to add lights to. Then type a command line next to the C:\ (or whatever) prompt:

   lladd SW737400.mdl B737.ll

Then hit return. The program should tell you if it completed and added the lights. Your new *.mdl file will (in my example above) be named SW737400.mdl and you will have a back-up of the original file named Sw737400.MD$. Copy the .mdl file back to your aircraft directory and you're set.

Here's the exact procedure:

  1. Download a plane in FS5.1 format - FSFW95 planes (quite a few) have landing lights already, but in the wrong format) I would suggest you get one of the Tradewind Carribean aircraft from their hanger (link here on this site)
  2. Unzip the plane in a temporary directory.
  3. Use the FS98 aircraft converter to convert it to FS98 - LLADD (this version) will not work on a FSFW95 .mdl file
  4. Copy the .mdl file to the same directory that lladd.exe is in.
  5. Go to a DOS window - Start menu
  6. Type lladd TCA777.mdl B777.ll - hit return
  7. The program should make a new .mdl called TCA777.mdl and a file called TCA777.md$
  8. The LLADD program should inform you if it wrote the light code correctly.
  9. Move the new .mdl file back to it's directory and overwrite the original. Keep the .md$ in case you don't like how the lights look.
