6.8 Why do I have occasional system freezes when using NAV1.8?
From FlightSim
Q:
SINCE I'VE INSTALLED NAV1.8 GPS, MY SYSTEM SEEMS TO STALL OR FREEZE AT VARIOUS TIMES (SUCH AS WHEN LOADING SCENERY, OR WHEN SELECTING A FLIGHT, OR JUST AT RANDOM). NORTON'S CRASH GUARD DOESNT CATCH IT, AND CTRL/ALT/DEL DOESN'T RESTART THE COMPUTER. IS THERE A BUG IN THE PROGRAM OR MIGHT IT BE SOMETHING ELSE? I ALSO RECENTLY INSTALLED THE DIAMOND STEALTH II 3D CARD, BUT I DON'T THINK THAT'S THE PROBLEM. (AMD120, 32MEG, 800X600 FULL SCREEN)
A:
There is a memory leak in the driver modules that communicate with FS98. This will cause a "low on system resources" error at times or "white out" instruments during flight. The solution to this, lacking a fix to the module Is to turn off the "link to FS" option when not actually using the program and running it in the background. It is true of Real Weather as it uses the same drivers.
