Q:

1) HOW DO I INSTALL THE NEWEST MONSTER 3D DRIVERS? WHEN I RUN THE EXECUTABLE, IT JUST 'UNPACKS' THE FILES... (I CURRENTLY HAVE V1.08)

2) CAN THE MONSTER 3D RUN AT ANY HIGHER RESOLUTION THAN 800X600. IF SO, HOW DO I ACHIEVE THAT RESOLUTION WITHIN FS98?

3) WILL THERE BE ANY TRADE-IN ON THE MONSTER 3D II WHEN IT SHIPS FOR REGULAR MONSTER 3D USERS?

A:

Right Click on My Computer, Click Properties, Select Monster Video Card (Maybe in Sound Card Section or Adapter Section) then select properties (or double click on Monster Card) and choose update driver then browse to the place you unpacked the file to (default is Windows/temp I think). This is for Windows 95 OSR2 you can update files on the old version by right clicking anywhere on the desktop other than on an icon and select display pros etc.

Do you realize Monster 3d driver ver 1.08 will not function on systems that are Pentiums or Cyrix, it is optimized for Pentium II machines.

The Monster 3D will only go to 800x600 mode with its 2 MB texture and 2 MB frame memory. At least this is what I read elsewhere on the net.

According to the readme that comes with v1.09 monster drivers from Diamond, v1.09 is optimized for the Pentium II while v1.08 are optimized for the Pentium Pro. I am running a Pentium Pro but went ahead and downloaded the v1.09 drivers. I didn't notice much difference. The runway lighting still looked horrible - blocky. I then went to the 3dfx web site and d'loaded their drivers. Runway lighting was much improved. If you want to try these drivers get the ones for the Voodoo and not the Rush drivers.
