HOW DO I ACTIVATE 3D IN FS98? 

A:

To activate your 3D, go to options, preferences, display and then to display options. Choose hardware acceleration, full screen device direct 3D, full screen mode 640x480x16 - activate everything on display options except 8-bit. Back out of the program to start flying, and hit ALT-ENTER. This will turn on/off your 3D.

Use the Options-Preferences-Display-Display Options-Hardware Acceleration menu combination. This will bring up a window with "Full Screen Device" as a title and drop down choices. These will be Primary Display Driver, Primary Display Driver (Direct3D) and another, hopefully, which will be your 3D card. If you don't have the 3rd choice, choose the Primary Display Driver (Direct3D). Click on all of the available options, except 8 Bit Image Textures, and close out the menu. When back in FS98 try the Alt-Enter key combination to get the 3D screen which will be without the menu bar and the task bar and with the effects you are looking for if all went well.
