I DO NOT HAVE A FAST MACHINE, BUT MY FRIEND DOES, HE GETS REALLY GOOD FRAME RATES AT MIEGS WITHOUT THE BENEFIT OF 3D. I SAID I WOULD ASK YOU GUYS WHY BOTHER WITH 3D IF YOU CAN ACHIEVE FAST RATES IN 2D? HE IS THINKING OF BUYING A 3D CARD BUT IS NOT SURE OF THE BENEFITS.

Sure, easy. Much, much improved appearance as well as frame rates. The appearance is almost as big a jump as is the frame rate thing. Go for the 3D.
