7.7 Why am I getting poor frame rates with my 3d card?

I HAVE A DELL P2 300 AND A I GET 10 AT THE MOST IN DENSE SCENERY! MY VIDEO CARD IS A DIAMOND MONSTER 3D, AND IT SEEMS THAT EVERYONE IS ENJOYING THEIRS MUCH MORE THAN I. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM THAT I HAVE?

Do you have it selected in the Options-Preferences-Display-Display Options-3D Accelerator menu? If you do, then Alt-Enter should activate it in full screen. It does not run in the 2D window.
