9.11 Is there any place other than "The Zone" to find people for multiplayer?
From FlightSim
Q:
IS THERE ANY PLACE OTHER THAN "THE ZONE" TO CONNECT WITH PEOPLE WHO WANT TO FLY ONLINE?
A:
There are several "Flight Boards" around the net. One of the best in located at:
http://www.fs98.net/
A Flight Board like the one located here is a place where users of FS98 can post their IP address for everyone to see and join in on multiplayer sessions. Thus you are connecting directly with another internet/FS98 user without having to deal with the Zone's bulky interface or any additional software.
FS98.net posts users' IP addresses in real time, along with the actual time the address was posted. The most recent posts are located at the top of the list. Now, what is an IP address and how do you use it? Every computer connected to the internet has an individual IP address....a number like 205.67.123.45 ect. When you go to a flight board and see an address like this posted, drag your mouse over the number and right click to copy into the Windows 95 clipboard. Then in FS98, go to mulitplayer connect menu and select the TCP/IP option from the "join session" option. Click your mouse into IP address box, then right click and paste the IP address you copied from the Flight Board web page. If the hosted session is still in progress you will see a title that you will simply click to join. That's it.
If you want to host your own multiplayer session and invite others to join, simply post your IP address to the Flight Board. See the instructions at FS98.net for details. Happy Flying!
