Can I get FSX to run at a lower resolution than 1024 x 768?
From FlightSim
FSX will run at a lower resolution than 1024 x 768. How do I know? Because I've tried it. I used to use a Z800 3d Visor and that used a maximum resolution of 800 x 600. As I've already said, if you edit the FSX.cfg file (the part under the "DISPLAY DEVICE" sections which shows the current resolution - for example 1024 x 768). Change this to anything that your monitor supports. The only thing with FSX that has a minimum resolution of 1024 x 768 is the screen where you select the flight, aircraft etc.
I remember that Mike Gilbert from MS had announced that 1024x768 was going to be a minimum for FSX and some Z800 visor owners complained about that. Maybe that's why they put in a workaround. But I know when I tried to run FSX at 2400x600, it flatly refused to run.
Set your desktop to whatever you normally have it at to run FSX Amend the FSX.cfg to 2400x600x32. Save Open FSX but do not amend the screen resolutions Pick a flight and go fly.
