Career and Flight Training
From FlightSim
There have been many questions in the forums, over the years, about making a career in aviation. There have also been many questions about flight training, such as how to get started, how much does it cost, etc. Thus this area is devoted to those types of questions.
- I'm 45 years old and thinking about changing to an aviation career. Any ideas/comments?
- Which is a better/smarter move: to learn to fly in fixed wing or helicopters?
- Should I take my training in powered aircraft, gliders or LSA (Light Sport Aircraft)?
- Do I have to have 20/20 vision to get a license?
- For a career in aviation, is it better to get an aviation degree or some other degree?
- How much does it cost to learn to fly?
- What is a type rating?
Ed: You may also wish to see the FAA's Student Pilot Guide and/or AOPA's Learn To Fly section. There also is a wealth of information on AOPA's Flight Training site.
