Dead reckoning

Dead reckoning, also known as ded reckoning (for deduced reckoning), is a process of figuring out the course, speeds, altitudes and wind corrections prior to leaving the ground, then flying the plan without any additional input, such as ground reference sighting, radio navaids, etc.
In flight, should you get updated winds aloft information, you may make some changes based on that new information. Any other inputs make this into another form of navigation, such as pilotage.
