Does anyone have difficulty landing the A321? I find that the trim doesn't work, and it will speed up right before landing. Also the auto throttle will switch on even when not in auto pilot. Is this a defect or just me?

You can switch off all three of the computers on the overhead and fly it like a Boeing...
Understand that the A321 replicates the fly-by-wire system. You don't control the a/c the same way at all, since the computers do most of the hard work...
...instead, you point it where you want to go, then let the computers handle the rest.
For example, to set climb attitude, pull back on the stick slightly to set your climb pitch, then... let go of the stick!
IOW, don't try to "steer the 'bus..."
The FBW side-stick is used only to initiate an action, not "steer it." - Bill
When the auto throttle engages it is because you are either too slow or too low. What you have to do is to pitch up to a 20 degree angle, and establish a stable climb, and then you can cancel the auto throttle.
It is a very different "bird" than the Boeing. Make small adjustments on the stick, gently manipulate towards the runway, at the touch down zone the nose will point down, then flare. Also remember to keep your nose level during approach and use the thruster, with full flaps, to control your decent.
