JAMMER: A special purpose electronic transmitter designed to interfere with enemy radar sets.
JATO: Jet Assisted Take Off, a strap-on solid fuel rocket pack that allows aircraft to make extreme short field takeoffs.
JDAM: Joint Defense Attack Munition, a "smart bomb" addon GPS guidance kit for "dumb" bombs, which are also known as "iron" bombs.
JET-A: A USA variant of the international standard passenger jet fuel blend known as "JET-A1". It is roughly equivalent to the USAF "Jet-8" fuel blend.
JET-B: The USAF approximate equivalent of JP-4, obsoleted by Jet-8, which has a higher flash point along with anti-static additives and is therefore safer to handle than JP-4/Jet-B.
JET PENETRATION: See "arrival". The term is usually applied to jet fighters only.
JET PIPE: The exhaust pipe of an axial flow turbojet engine.
JET ROUTE: Air routes, usually from VOR to VOR, used to serve aircraft operating above 18,000 feet
JUG: Jargon for a cylinder of a piston engine. Also jargon for the P-47 fighter of WW2.
JUMP SEAT: An extra seat in a transport category aircraft cockpit. Intented for check pilots.
