Hi Jamie,
That is something we would be interested in, It looks like you just started out, Is that correct?
Maybe we could organise a race sometime and see what sort of response it gets.
I downloaded some race marker macros a while ago and I was planning to set up a couple of air racing circuits sometime in the future. I like the idea of the Hydro racer. We could incorporate that into an MP session where by we fly to a location, race the Hydro and fly out.......How does that sound?
Will keep an eye on your project, it looks good. Thanks for sharing it with us.

VARO has been going for nearly 3 years.... there was a bit of inside turmoil with a pilot leaving and taking alot of racers with him to another site/organisation so we have been reborn basically, we are coming to a close of a racing season atm and in the off season we are looking at running some endurance type events
this is a press release i circulated reacently
hope we could work out something together :)

Press release
VARO Surges Forth
With its spring season drawing to a close VARO is looking forward to the future. The last three months have seen a lot of changes in the VARO stable - a new fleet of custom designed and built unlimited planes, newly designed race tracking software that takes the guess work out of who was the winner and another new plane,i.e. the Pond Racer under development with none other than the chief test-pilot - Mr. Richard Rutan himself! We also have quite a few changes being developed in the wings, including a new race night format, the addition of a jet class, and the addition of endurance events in the off season.
So what does this mean to you? Well, nothing if you are not a pilot or you don’t like the idea of doing 450+ knots 50 feet off the ground. But if you do like this idea, then it does mean something, because we are looking for pilots! We are a small group of dedicated pilots all there for the fun of it - we are competitive and we don’t like losing and we give it our all, but at the end of the day it is just plain fun!
So, if you are interested we would love for you to join us on the track!

Perhaps FS.com could build it's own team??? I'm sure that many would like to become members?

ive put quite a few posts around trying to get people interested, so far intrest has been quite disapointing, i'm sure that anyone who were interested enough to give it a try would stay.... its just getting the people to come and fly with us, alot of people dont get past the first email for some reason, (if anyone has any ideas why let me know)we are looking at introducing teams next season very much like the formula 1 cars, so that would be a way that a group of pilots could roster each other in some way so there is always 2 pilots there to race but there might acutually be four pilots on the roster for that team??... i dunno, just thinking out loud now, that would have to be passed by the commitee.
all i can really say that is a great organisation and although it might sound very strict when reading through the rules it isnt that bad, any disputes are always settled easily by discussion, and we are always flexible if there is good reasons :)
there will be prizes in the future too
all i can say is if your uming and ahhing come and give us a try... you wont regret it

i was just thinking, perhaps we could corun a sanctioned event, that way you guys get a look at what we do etc, or we could run our races on the flightsim server at an advertised time and you guys could come check us out?
i dunno, just tossing ideas about

Yep,
Like the idea of a sanctioned event. Also like the Idea of our own team.
What say you schedule an event/race on our server, gimme the date etc and I will lock it down with a password. we will them come along and observe the format etc......... and we will take it from there.
Would like to see how it all works before commiting to anything.
Set up your race and then let me know when it is by email and I will set up the server etc........ we will plan to be there to observe.
Let us know what files we need to download. It would look funny with default 747's racing at 100 ft above the gnd.......lol

Sorry to drag this old thread back up but I am the creator of VARO and have built most of the scenery and aircraft. Since August we have seen our numbers decline and I finally got around to doing something about. Recently I have removed the old site and completly rebuilt it to make it easier for people to get involved. I have also cut out alot of the confusing and somewhat strict rules to make things a lot easier on new pilots.
The new website will reopen on January 1st and we will be having open testing sessions on the weekends following. I know that earlier this year JimJam was working with the guys here at Flightsim.com to put something together to get an idea of what VARO is all about if you guys are still interested we would love to. Right now VARO can use as much exposure as we can get as we come back from the rebuild.
Please feel free to visit the website at http://srythshangar.lasthome.net in a couple days it will all be back up and running.
If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer them as quickly as possible. We are looking to start a new racing season the first week of february with our standard 4 classes and then add acrobatic races and point to point rally races as the year moves along.

Sounds like a great idea, Geoff. Maybe we could take it to some part of the world MP Adventures hasn't been to yet. 'bout time we did something in your neck of the woods innit. An air race in the UK, just think ya wouldn't have to go to bed in the wee hours of the morning, after we finished. Go ahead man, you need a break, you deserve it.
747's @ 100',yeah. Don't forget about the Piper Cubs in a hurricane in Jamaica(impromtu)......lol.
