Hi Andy,

A screenshot would certainly help to depict what you're seeing. Certainly some FE combinations of water/waves/sky/cloud etc. do work better than others.

One point to note - with the default textures they are designed to minimize the interface differences between the high-resolution (close) and low-resolution (distant) textures, which isn't always the case when using replacement textures, so if its this you're seeing you may need to experiment with the textures chosen.

Also note that when using something like FE that replaces textures you will almost certainly get file fragmentation that can lead to seeing "the blurries" sooner. Thus regular defragmentation of your drives will help to prevent this from happening any sooner than it has to.

Alastair

thanx guy for your replies, i did try to upload a few pics but they failed and didnt give me a reason.
i will try again. the actual water textures are fine its just where the water changes colour around coastlines etc; from say, a light blue to a slightly darker blue the change seems to be in straight line and squares off.

will get some pics.

many thanx

andy

I had that same exact problem with CieloSim's Instant Enhancer, but they released a fix for it...Did you check FE's site for a fix?

Default Same water issue with FS Elemental

I call it the "tablecloth effect", where close in water textures are great, but at a distance, the textures change with a hard line that gives a chequerboard effect. I have been experimenting with FS Elemental hoping it would solve this issue, but no success. Also tweaking FSIUPC, which does fix it if you bring the visiblity way down. Another phenomenon of water in the distance is a shimmering effect. It must be to do with the change in textures from close detail and distance representation. This is about the only area where I continue to be disappointed with FS9, which is otherwise a brilliant sim.
