I dunno why stupid people keep bumping old threads. My question is, why the hell does it bother you so much? You can't bypass threads you don't want to read?

Well, Jim,
It sure as hell bothers me 'cause I'm 59, had a stroke, and am easily confused:
Dark Rose, where have you been for the last three years?
Arrgh, never mind...

Being a troublemaker by nature, I merely went back to page 313 and dug up the oldest post I could find in the general forum, and resurrected it.
I've said this before, I once knew a guy who had a really silly pet peeve - anyone who puts salt and pepper on their food in a restaurant without tasting it first. Most people do it, so he gets a lot of chances to pet his peeve, and never misses a chance to tell somebody that it irritates him. How anal retentive can you get? HE don't have to eat it, why the hell should he care if somebody else oversalts his food?
Peggy was pure coincedence, she just happened to be in the oldest thread I could dig up, but why did she leave? Well, primarily cuz her son darkfyre left, the post is gone now but as I recall it was something very similar to this issue - he asked a question that had already been asked, a bunch of those self appointed forum cops jumped on his case for not searching, he got disgusted and left.
Danny Beck and Maple Leaf Tracks never turned me on, I personally don't understand the fuss over their stuff - but rather than complaining about it every ten minutes, I just scroll past those posts to get to ones that do interest me. Maybe some of these guys need to get a mouse with a scroll wheel, the forums recently had most of the pinned topics unpinned because apparently some people couldn't scroll past them to get to recent topics.
http://forums.flightsim.com/ts/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=7&topic_id=87564&mesg_id=87564&page=
That question has been asked and answered a zillion times, but what the hell is the point of flaming a newby for not searching? If it irritates you that badly, ignore the question and move on to another thread, where you will probably find something else to irritate you. If you feel you MUST post something in response, do the goddamn search yourself and post a link. And see a shrink about that compulsion to respond to what you perceive as stupidity.
What irritates the hell out of me is people who get irritated for no good reason. :P
And by the way guys;
http://forums.flightsim.com/ts/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=2&topic_id=82686
There is now an off topic forum specifically for idiots who want to complain about other idiots when it has nothing to do with trains, so you can stop using the general forum for that.

Oops - I got confused by the "Reply to mesg x" thing (somehow) - thought that you were replying to a deleted post.
But now the truth has come out!! Adventurer of the Archives Sniper strikes again!
Point taken though - I personally have nothing against people, especially "newbies" asking questions - hell, if I ever need to ask a question I'll just post and ask, and woe betide anyone who decides to have a bitch fest at my behalf.
How on earth can we expect people, young and old, to join the community when someone'll spoil it by going on a gratuitous flame-fest? it's nice to see that the recent "Hi all" thread is going nicely, but there have been some gross over-reactions to relatively simple questions in the not so distant past.
If you don't like what's in a thread, unless it really offends your sense of honour, decency and decorum (in which case you got to your friendly moderator), you "scroll past those posts" as Sniper put it.
I know that you, Jim, have stressed enough lately about the difference between the Yard and General forum, and I know that I've done it! People, that's why there's a little mission statement beneath the sub-fora title! So you know where to post or look.
Asking questions not necessarily covered in the pinned topics is no big sin, but blatantly putting something in the wrong forum is. How many flames do we see occur because someone posted in the wrong part of the forum? Nowhere near as many as when someone asked an innocent question which was apparently an insult to the hardcore MSTS fan...
Sigh. Need I remind everyone that there is a fine topic called "The care and feeding of Newbies" which already indicates that getting bitchy with new members is not nice (and not tolerated)?
Cheers Sniper

Harley,
The complaint wasn't about newbies (or anybody else) asking questions.
The complaint is about resurrecting 2,3 and 4-year old posts!
First: Most people seem to view posts by last-update date. So you can't skip past them--you think they're new.
Then, if you are lucky enough to glance up in the upper right corner, you have to do a double-take at the date.
And THEN, you have to scroll down 20 or 30 replies to see a) another inane reply to an ancient post or b) the same question re-asked by someone who didn't understand the previous 30 replies.
I don't give a hoot if a newbie wants to ask an old question and couldn't search for (or find) an answer.
But, for Pete's sake, don't ask your question as the 35th reply to a 3-year-old post.
Ask it clearly in a NEW post!
PaulS

I'll probably regret adding to this subject, but I just don't understand why everyone- no, not everyone- a relative few, are getting so uptight on the old threads issue. I mean absolutely NO disrespect to anyone on this forum, but I just don't understand why some are so upset over it.
Once or twice I've dragged up an older thread- somebody was creating a route of interest to me, then the thread got quiet. So I posted to it just to ask if there was anything to report. Was that such a horrible thing?
On the one hand, somebody posts a new thread, with an honest question, and gets flamed because it was discussed three years ago and why didn't you use the dang search engine?! On the other hand, you have something legitimate to contribute on an older topic and get flamed for dragging up the old thread. So what's one supposed to do?!
I'd agree that some threads are placed on the wrong part of the forum, but what's the difference if it's old or new? Skip over it!
Like I said, I mean no offense to anyone here, but it just seems like alot of griping over nothing. Start up Train Sim and have some fun already!
Thanks for your attention.

Two questions: is it true that MSTS 2 is cancelled?
How can we get more women on the game?

Do you mean how can we get more of the women who are already on the game, or do you mean how can we get more of the women we already have to go on the game? And if they're on the game why are they hard to get?

:P
I think there is a forum section for MSTS2 so go there to ask the first question. I noticed there are alot of Russian web sites offering lowcost and or free women maybe you should look there. However if you find the Russian web sites you probably shouldn't post links to them here.
