Greetings,
I am wondering if any one has made or is making any GE U- series diesels with a high short hood - such as those used by Southern and Norfolk & Western? If not, would it be very difficult to simply modify an existing low short hood unit to a high hood? Thanks in advance and good day!

Hi Michael:
As far as I can tell, there are no high-nosed U-boats available. John Peterson http://www.alabamarailfan.com/ might be a good person to contact for assistance to make one. Also, try Justin Cornell (known for his hinose equipment) at http://www.kamodder.com/~moon_xl/MSTS/. Then there are the folks from NALW etc. And Dekosoft just released hinosed diesels also.
There are plenty of artists available to help. If you find a high nose U-boat, please let me know!

Hey Mark,
Thanks for the reply. I have checked out Justin Cornell's high nose equipment and am presently trying to reskin them in Southern colours. I am also looking into getting a 3-D program so if there are no high nosed u-boats available I may try one myself. Again, thanks for the tips!! Good day

Michael:
You're very welcome! I would like very much to have any Southern engines, and hope you consider uploading your work to the forum library.
Good luck!

LAST EDITED ON Jun-11-02 AT 07:33PM (EDT)[p]Thanks for the plug, Mark! I actually have collected lots of pics with the intention of doing some high-hood u-boats for Southern, N&W, NS and whoever else had them (I know some got retired from NS and found their way to shortlines). I have been "out of the loop" as far as MSTS stuff lately and hadn't released any models since the U36B. I will look into what it would take to model one of these puppies!
Highball!

Hi John,
Both N&W and Southern had U30C high hood units I believe. Let me know if you need an .eng file for anything.
Hope to see some more of your great work!!!

Greetings John,
Thanks for considering doing one of these engines. I will also be very delighted to see one come out, when ever you have the time. Presently I am working on reskinning some existing loco's into SRR and hopefully soon I will try my hand at making one from scratch. Thanks again and good day!
