What exactly is the world map for?

It's used to extract height data for making your routes. Zoom in Highlight the area, I'd make it a very small area, and it will start to generate land tiles for to lay your track on.

MMakin I used the GE and when I load up the terrain I see nothing but flat terrain. Are you doing something that makes the terrain not flat.

If so I'd love to know what you're doing.

Same here, all I get is a flat map. All I would like to know is what does the RGE do? Someone said somewhere you need to load in a height map or something. I am wondering if there is a way to create a .pcx grayscale image (like in the Tropico or Motor Cross Madness editor)and import it into MSTS to create a height map. From what I understand, Microsoft used all of these editors to create everything in the game. But I have not read anywhere stating how to add or if you need to add a height map to it.

The editor originally had .dem (Digital Elevation Maps) import support, it's what Kuju used to create the routes... for reasons beyond my comprehension it was removed... :(
