Route Name - Sandpatch
Version - 1.0 / Mid-Late 2002
Description - Sandpatch is one of the most storied mountain crossings in the east. The B&O conquered the Alleganies in the mid 1800's. At one point the line was largely triple tracked becasue of the heavy traffic volume the route saw. The line begins from the historic town of Cumberland Maryland and passes through the Cumberland Narrows before making the climb to the summitt. Route also includes some trackage and rolling stock from rival Western Maryland which often ran near B&O tracks. Over the years, much of the 3rd rail has been removed, and seen the B&O give way to Chessie, Conrail, and finally CSX.
