Hi anyone with an interest in this particular route...

I like this route for it's great possibilities regarding activities I can create. But where the few activities that came with it, are concerned, I can manage most, except for the "New Loco Pickup" activity itself.

When I try to load it, I get an error message relating to a USfreight7 car or something. The activity itself will load in the activity editor without trouble.

The error message then says it "failed to add car to world" and then crashes Train Sim totally.

The message itself contains stuff like "Placement at -12776+14845+1.5+232.8 failed - too far from track !" So even after re-installing the route itself, I still get this error and can't run the activity at all.

The author said in a ReadMe file, that he worked on the activities and tested them repeatedly or words to that effect, to be sure they all worked fine, but this one refuses to do it's stuff. Has anyone else experienced this particular problem with this activity also ? And if so, has anyone managed to rectify it at all, short of removing the whole car cut itself ? Thanks for any offers or suggestions here.

did you make sure you have all of the cars installed that he had listed that weren't stock?....

Most definitely I did !!! If I had some missing stuff that was required, I wouldn't have really been able to get far when loading the activity itself. Stands to reason. I'd be informed about the missing or problem item(s) as you might realise by now, with those annoying little dialogue boxes.

Nothing of the sort came up in that vein, and it was just the text which I quoted the majority of in my original message, relating to some USFreight7 car being unable to be placed, due to being too far from the track. Something highly unusual, as I've never yet come across a message of this type in ANY other routes when loading them in. Still need someone who's experienced this one in Flatlands as I did, so I know it's not unique to me alone.

Had the same problem and error message. I had this happen once when I created a consist longer then the track it had to set on.

I went into the activity and moved every consist manually and to no avail.

The short of it is I have no clue what is wrong with this one.

On a related note have you heard anything regarding the new version of Flatlands?

Thanks for the info back there. Still no luck, but I'm working on it when I get some time. New version of Flatlands eh ? Not that I read / heard of. If there is, I wonder what changes or improvements will be implemented ?

On a slightly different note, what routes have you actually got installed on your system ? And have you tried doing any really big downloads of some of the bigger routes available on Train-Sim.com ? My biggest so far has been the Ohio & West Virginia at about 44 megs total for the two files. And I can vouche for that one, that it's definitely worth downloading indeed !!

The activities are great and the variety in the scenery is fantastic. Only "gripe" I have with it, relates to the signals or lack of one or two in strategic locations... particularly as I feel that there should be a signal controlling the northbound exit from the Florence Yards towards Mt. Ephraim.

I made an activity for it that works fine, except that a diesel passenger train was stopped by the signal at the end of the double track outside Florence Yards, waiting for me... AND a steam hauled coal train leaving the yards was stopped also, waiting for me, with NO signal at all, but there was absolutely NO way I could enter the yards at all with those two trains where they were. I just wish I was able to understand the Route Editor somehow, and make my own changes as I see fit, but I'm scared s***less of stuffing everything up. The Route Editor seems to be totally user-unfriendly, and I wish someone could bring out a completely user-friendly and easy to understand Route Editor, that I'd be HAPPY to pay for as long as I was able to have adequate documentation and ease of use.

First off, the new Flatlands is out. The file is the same name as your current version so save a copy of your current version somewhere outside of the routes directory before you insall this puppy. I like it. Only a test activity so far, the author says he will add more later.

I am not sure if the current batch of activities for Flatland V2 will run in the new one.

As for what routes I have, too many. Unterland, Abula, Flatlands
PO&N, O&WV, Hoboken6 as well as Central Wisconsin, and of course East Metro.

I use Route Control and am still running out of disk space.

I think we are very fortunate to have such a rich selection in locos, rolling stock and routes.

Wish activities were easier. JD

My recommendation is for P

The activities of version 2 are not compatible at this moment.I had broken paths in all the activities.I'm not sure how to fix the broken paths without deleting the start points.

I was wondering if you guys noticed that the tracks were not smooth on the turn around curved track at Valley Cross just before you come to a light upon leaving the city. You have to be in the external view and watch the locomotive and Oil Tankers. I picked up some just for fun. They go sideways for awhile. I emailed Joe (AKA) bluewolf and let him know. He told me there will be a fix for this shortly. There are other curves that are a little rough. It is a great route that will be enjoyable. I have nothing but the deapest regard for all of the route designers that give their time and effort for us to enjoy. To all MANY THANKS.
