"Take Other Exit" Not Showing Up?

I'm a newcomer to activity design. I did one small activity on the original Marias...it worked fine. I'm trying another switching activity on Marias and when I start my path (in Essex)I am not able to choose the 'take other exit'option at switches (it's greyed out). I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong...it's like the path editor has a mind of it's own????

Any suggestions/help is most appreciated.

Ensure that "Path Points" (I think that is the right term) is turned on (checked) in the view menu. For some reason this turns off by itself every once in a while. When set correctly, Your path should be green and the exits on your path should be green dots. Now when you right click on a green dot, Take other exit should be available.

also, make sure your right clicking on the correct switch point. You may be trying to click on the one behind the correct one if they're close together.
