Just thought I'd ask as I usually have quite a bit of spare time at work at night to surf the internet and look, so if there's anything in particular someone wants, give a shout and I'll try to go find it! Hell I'll even look through my old magazines and books and scan in a few images if I stumble onto anything. I just want to contribute SOMETHING back to the community, and I'm very passionate about getting the proper cabs into these engines, ergo I'm more than happy to chase after 'em!

There have been a lot of requests for a cab car 'control booth' (or is that WC?). This wouldn't be a bad research subject to start with.

I admit that I did the Genesis cab on your prompting for the same reasons you give here - wanting to give something back to the community. I have a wonderful set of aircraft for MSFS and didn't really give anything back there. MSTS has given me that opportunity.

We have not had much luck finding pics of control consoles including locotrol 2 equipment for CPR SD40-2's. We will release a set of cab working interiors eventually with working locotrol if possible (at least the indicators). Any info would be greatly apreciated.

OK, that got my attention. These are good but I will need more to do a good job.

Something looking left. I presume that the cab is on the right of the car? If so, a view taken through the side window to show the cab door and view across the rest of the car would be extremely useful.

Looking right from the doorway, again a paramount need.

A shot of the overall window shape and size from the inside - doesn't need to be straight on.

Something showing what is on the left hand side of the cab itself; I see what might be switches in one view. A shot of those would help.

Any driver's manuals like at the gelwood site? I would like to know what gauges are provided and where they are laid out. If no photos available then anyone who knows (a driver/ex-driver perhaps) could draw the layout and post that, with labels. I could make something up from there.

http://gelwood.railfan.net/manual/sd40-2s2.html for the operators manual. This page is the Engine Starting and Cab Controls page of the SD40-2 manual.

I've got you covered for the left view.

Here is the view of the whole control area. Yes, it is on the right side of the cab.

Here is the window on the right side.

Now, when you say "a view across the rest of the car", do you mean the actual car with the passenger seats, or just the cab area?

Moving right along!

Left is good - this is what I meant by across the car - from the drivers seat towards the LHS of the car. Maybe a little more of the front to show the width of the car but this one is ok.

Centre view is fantastic. I will need help identifying the gauges though. They are a little dark so some labels would help me. Also the panel on the left is sideways so I cannot see what is there. a direct shot of this or some labels - I will have to modify this to be useful anyway.

The RHS I presume is the window in the door, visible in the other shots? I can use a combination or just use the default GP38 RHS if I get lazy. Just make it metallic in appearance.

Does the work area have a door? Point of interest question - may not be relevant to design. Still any pictures which show the rear left quarter would be appreciated.

I really appreciate these shots; many thanks for the contribution.

Now, none of this helps salve michigandon's need for redemption. Another suggestion then for the don is the AEM7 - pre desktop update. I would like to see what this little toaster looked like from the inside when originally issued. The desktop is cute but that's not what I want to do first up!
Want to look into that one, don-man?

I had to enlarge these a lot to see what the labels below the buttons said.

Hey Mike

That looks like a cab from the Amfleet or Am Can Cab Car. Is the throttle a combined control for throttle and dynamic?

Here is the car.

No, the throttle is just a throttle. The cab car was not equipped with dynamic brakes.

Hey Mike

You are correct, the cab cars are not equiped with dynamics, however the pusher locos generally are such as what's on the west coast.

Okay fellas, I'll see what I can dig up!

Don

PS-why would a non-powered cab control car have it's own sanders?

Hi Michigandon....Don.
I really would like to press your number, during the New Year, for pics. I'm busy doing some SteamCabs at present, and would however ask if you could, kindly, see if a Mikado footplate view is available.
Everything of the best for Xmas and the New Year.:-)
Johan.

I could use some help . . . I've been searching the web for photos of the cab of a steam powered rotary snow plow. I'm (loosely) modeling the SP MW7222, although any steam era rotary will do. I've found a diesel, but no steam so far. The 7222 had a control cab above and just behind the rotary, with the fireman's "station" at the rear. I'd really like reference for the "control cab" if you can find anything.

Thanks
