I have had up and running MSTS for some time now.

I have just noticed that the dynamic brakes don't seem to work on the GP38.
I originally thought this was because I was using the
"Simple Controls" in the preferences setup.

I have downloaded SD40's from this wonderfull site and they all work ok. I have looked for any changes in the ENG file that may cause this but wonder if it's the cab design.

Can anyone help.

Andy:

There are lots of great fixes to this problem. Look for three downloads in the file library. One is for the Dynamic Brake Sound in the GP38 (by Bill Mahan); one is a set of new values to plug into your engine files to make them work properly - it's a file devoted to dynamic braking (by Peter Baker). The third file is the now famous (on MSTS) locomotive physics file by Scott Borchardt. Look for the one named locophy3 when you search. It had new values to plug into your freightcar "wag" files - if you really want an experience, the whole train should brake in a realistic fashion.

If you use these files to change your GP38, dynamic brakes will work like a charm, and sound even better - both inside and outside of the cab.

If you don't know how to change an engine or wag file, just ask. It's easy.

Many thanks. Sorted ok.

It does seem strange that MS released the game with so may faults.

Well it does give me some joy when I get it right.
