Kurt, unfortunately I have no idea what these units look like (either inside or out). You would have to supply suitable photographs for me to be able to work with. Any new work would ned to be scheduled around other projects also. If yoou've got the pictures, post them. They may take my fancy!

well the B32-8W or as amtrak calls them P32-8's will just use the plain ol dash 9 cab. with some differences, but roughly it's all the same.

Here is the deal:
B40-8 short hood foward: I'll get back to you on this...should it be the default GP38....?
B40-8 long hood foward: GP9 high hood cab with GP38 controls
B32-8W: Dash 9 cab, add: clock, cab signals. Extra HEP throttle.

Trirail if you're going to make a P32-8W remember that the fuel tank on the P32's is differenct then the B32's. if ya want i can send you some pics.

Are you sure Amtrak's B40-8PHW doesn't have analog gauges instead of computer screens, like e.g. BNSF's early C40-9Ws?

Not sure if the Amtrak P32s have the analog gauges, but I would be pretty sure they have the electronic readings.
I also know the different gas tanks for the 32, and 40-8Bs and BWs.

Kurt, It would be really helpful to see pictures of the layouts.
The Dash 9 sounds ok except the HEP throttle probably would be a dummy. I don't know of any HEP controls in the current structure. Again, I would need to know what it looks like and 'where it lives'.

Its been a while since the Pepsi Cans were at Lorton (Autotrain down the road from where I live about 10 miles) but I remember them as having a analog cab layed out something like the dash9 desktop only with analog guages.... I think some one has already uploaded a crude approximation to the file library some months ago...

Could you make me this NS spec Dash 9 (I think) control? Seems like NS has the seat facing sideways....could you make the control view pointing sideways, the left view out the rear of the locomotive, and the right view foward? Here is an example:
Right view:

Left view:

Cab controling view (have the view farther away, so you can at least see out):

Enlarged photos so you can figue out where to put the controls:

I hope the Dash 8 standard cabs use this too....

Kurt,
IIRC, The NS (the North American one not the Dutch one) had the "different" control stand because they had high short hoods and also tended to run their engines long hood forward....
You must read our mail! LOL! We are discussing a GE hood cabview project right now... Especially something to support all the Uboats and early dash 7s.... I think the desktop didn't come into play with GE until the Dash 8s and the original ones had analog guages as I recall....

Well, Chuck, you see, that's a widecab Dash 9 cab you see there...

And the NS still thinks they are running Steam Locos! I see them come through here long hood first all the time... Part of their Southern Rwy Heritage I'll bet....
