For those keenly following the development of the Control Cab, I have finally put it in TS - here is is flying along the rails...

I still have to create the animated throttle but all else is done. At the moment it has a temproary GP38 throttle stuck under the radio just so I could run the thing.
While this is based on photos of an unpowered control cab I can see no reason why this cannot be used for any diesel-powered railcar. This one is being tested on a GP38 loco and controls it no probs.

LAST EDITED ON Jan-07-02 AT 02:08PM (EST)[p]Hey Sam
That is, well what can I say but, OUTSTANDING!!!
Did you put it in the cab car file I sent you? If not may I try it out? PPPPPLLLLLLEEEEEAAAAASSSSSEEEE.... I have driver files for all the commuter cab cars and would just love (on knees begging) to try it out.
Chuck
PS
Files are waiting for your cab to be uploaded.

Looks perfect!!! I can't wait to see what the throttle will look like! By the way, how is the E60 cab coming?

Hi,
That's looking awfully good!!!!!! Great Job!
And I share your opinion that it can be used for an DMU.
Only many DMU's have gears, at last here in Europe, I don't know anything about DMU in the States.

Chuck, I have not tried your engine file as I don't have the .s and .ace files to go with it... I want to get the throttle made first before I send it anywhere. I want to do a B-end view as well as an alternate left view much like the other dual cabs I have done lately (GG1, EP5, E60). I don't know if they are of any use but I just love doing them - LOL.
I'll keep you posted on progress. The throttle is the nasty one because of the animation. All the other controls are two frames only; the throttle is 9 frames.

Mike, the E60 is about done and close to release. Chuck Schneider and I have been 'negotiating' on the left hand view and we have come up with something we both agree on (This is the normal left view rather than the B-end which is already complete.) Chuck just wants to tweak his earlier work on the eng files and release it all as one package.

The E60 should be ready soon...

Dick, do you know how many gears the DMUs have? The Kiha31 comes with 2 speeds - if this is all that is required something could be added on the LHS where I currently have the temporary throttle...

Hi,
No, I didn't know how much gears. I guess the KIHA is rather prototypical for the DMU's with 2 gears.
But I know nothing about American DMU's.

American DMUs didn't have gears as I recall. They were either Diesel Electric or Diesel Hydraulic....

OK, throttle is done; everything works; B-End cab made; really all it requires is cleaning up the folder and sending it to ChuckSc for aliasing and packaging.

Here's me speeding:

So now I have applied emergency brake:

Just a shot to show you the horn (it is not easy to see 'at rest':

Plus proof the cab signals work; medium approach:

It's too late here to do any more so I'll work on sending it off tomorrow... I hope you like this; it is fast becoming my own favourite! Just need a decent railcar to put it in. The Budd type sound nice...
I will also look at adding a 2-gear control if there is a demand.

Ah, that brings back memories... Well, the throttle looks nice, and so does the horn. The whole cab looks great! I'm looking forward to it!

Hey Sam
Now that your most excellent cab car cab is finished, I am going through all the commuter car folders and cleaning up all the files, (driver, sound and coach wag), and I will upload them soon.
Excellent job on the cab, works very well and a nice view to boot.
Thanks a whole bunch!
Chuck

I've now created some other controls and two other cvf files'
One to access an 'el-cheapo' gear lever for use with Kiha-type models:

and the other a simple pantograph control and appropriate mods to run an EMU:
