I am using the default dash 9 cab in a new locomotive but the view to the outside world is too high. I can see over the roof of the same type of loco in front.
How do you lower this view position?

You need to edit the locomotive's .eng file. Use WordPad for this. I don't have a sample .eng file in front of me, but somewhere in there will be a parameter named "HeadOut" or something like that with three numbers in parentheses after it (hit Ctrl-F to find it quickly).
The numbers are the X, Y and Z coordinates of the viewpoint with respect to the origin coordinates of the locomotive. The origin coordinates are whatever the author decided they should be, but usually X=0 is the centerline of the track and Z=0 is slightly below the top of the track. Y=0 can be just about anywhere along the length of the loco.
It sounds like you want to reduce the Z (up-down) coordinate. It should be on the order of 4 meters. You'll just have to experiment with different numbers until you get it the way you want it.

The Y should be from the cenrer of the engine .
positive numbers forward and a - sign for positions to the rear.
When making changes go back to a side view to get an idea of where the "head" is situated. On just about every model the view position is too far out and too much to the front. In my view you should just see the front of the window/door frame on the side of the screen.
It's quite safe to play with those numbers..so experiment..
