View Full Version : New controls?

I've spent most my time in the route editor, so I'm about as green as it gets when it comes to cabs. My question is, is it possible to create new controls, or is what MS/Kuju put in all there is? Specifically, I'd love to have an in-cab Mary unit... the counterpart to the FRED on the rear of a train. On real locomotives, one of it's readouts is distance traveled, and can be reset at will. For example, if you know your train is 4400 feet long, you reset the Mary box distance to zero when you start off on a siding. You keep pulling ahead until the readout shows you've gone far enough to have the rear end in the clear. There's of course other checks done in the real world to make sure the rear of the train is where it should be, but I'd just love to be able to sit in the cab and watch the numbers tick off without using the #3 camera to see where the way car is. The only distance references I have found deal with between signals, and distance to next platform. Any of you guys know if something like that is possible, or should I add another line to my wish list if/when release 2 of MSTS gets cooking?

I agree, Highball! I was just reading an article the other night about EOTs/FREDs/MARYs and thought the exact same thing: how it would be nice to have this in our modern locos. Maybe the fine folks over at CLW can figure something out for this!
