Question: I think, the settings in the cabeditor may be connected with some special in the *.eng file. Can you tell me which are this ones and where I can find them in the list of the entries ?

Nearly all of the controls and displays get their information from the settings in the eng file.

(And I said I wasn't going to write a tutorial)

There are some setup entries such as

CabViewType ( x ) 1,2, or 3 electric diesel steam
EngineData ( xyz ) this is the eng filename without any extension

All the other are covered somewhere in the eng file - bell, sanders, performance details for brakes and such.

The main ones to actually worry about are the throttle and brake settings. If you use the cab editor (!) and set the master eng file correctly these are picked up automatically. Get it wrong and your creation falls over... It is a good idea to run the cab editor once on a new cab to lay the graphics out close to where they will end up and to get the base data imported correctly. From there I edit manually...
