Hey! I finally found a file (directly within MSTS!) that has a suitable sound, and I replaced most track sounds with it. All I need to know now, is how to modify the .SMS file to make the sounds make sound all the time except when the train is stopped.
A patch for the ESE is going to be the first download fix, then I'll fix the Superliners, Amfleets, freight cars and finally, a fix for the main track sounds for MSTS.

If you're asking for some help, you'll need to detail what file you have found and what replacements you have already done. If you mean that you have altered the track Sound Regions then you won't need to alter any of the loco/wagon .sms's.

I've replaced the files in the main MSTS "Sound" file and will be making special ones for the rolling stock too, so you'll get more track noise, and on the "steam era" (not "modernwag") cars won't have that odd creepy noise that comes up, that sounds more like an old door creaking.

Will these new/modified track sounds change to reflect the speed of travel of the train?
There were originally three sets (US, Europe & Japan) of 10 (or 11?) Track Region sounds, the .wav files being located in the main sounds folder. These were different to reflect different rail environments, ie briges, tunnels, jointed/continuous rails etc. From what (little!) you've described it seems you have replaced all, or at least most, with only one. So your setup will effectively reduce the number of Track Regions. Why not just replace the general ones?
Will you be whating any beta tester?
