Elecetric locos - why so quiet?

Am I alone in finding the sound levels in external views of the MSTS default Acela and HHP (and any other electric locos aliased to them) to be unrealistically low? In particular, the horn is so faint that it seems to be inside a box half a mile away! In the real world, most electric locos are as noisy as many diesels; especially when drawing power and the cooling fans are running.

Oddly, the volume inside the Acela and HHP cabs is at a realistic level.

Can anyone suggest a fix for increasing the overall external sound level, presumably involving a modifed xxxCAB.SMS file? I've tried playing around with some parameters, but due to lack of knowledge on how this file is structured have had no luck so far.

I'm assuming the problem does not lie with my PC, as diesel loco sounds are fine in both cab and external views.

Now I've just experienced what you could call a virtual echo! :-)

All you have to do is replace the powercruise sounds in the HHP or Acela folder with the powercruise sounds in the GP38 or Dash 9 folder. I did that with my GG1 and EP5, and now it sounds a lot louder (like a GP38).
