LAST EDITED ON Mar-21-02 AT 07:06PM (EST)[p] kevin..a little history..i downloaded the new dash 9 #986 and then i went into the consist editor to place it as the lead unit on the "pool freight" activity along with the defualt unit#4723 and i put in an sd40 for flavor also...when i go to start up the activity i got the following error " sms error in reading all streams...too many streams file " c\program ...etc...etc..\trainset\dash9bnsf1\sound\d9cab.sms line 436" i clicked on "ok" then this popped up"failed to load sms file d9cab sms" when i clicked "ok" i then went to the sim and everything was there but i had no cab sounds the external sound was ok..in the msts forum dated 3/19/02 i got a reply from "trirailf40phl" advising me to go into the eng files and edit out any referance to the bnsf1 in the sounds line..take a look at his post for a more detailed explanation..when i followed his recommendations i still recd the error messages but now my cab sound were outside using view #2 still nothing inside.so i put everything back as it was. before i posted this yesterday i made sure i typed the sound line exactly as he said and tried it again..today i get this message" failed to find sms file..\..\trainsetash9oundd9eng.sms" that is not a typo that is how it reads..i went into both the dash9 and the bnsf1 dash9 eng files to look for a typo but there was nothing there and now there is no sounds at all...sorry for being so wordy but you seem to help a lot of peole here and i wanted to give you as much as possible to work with...steve

I've found that a single backslash (\) does not work at all. Use either a double backslash (\\) or a forward slash (/).
