Hi folks,

I want to know if we can get a Matt's section on this site. The reason for this is, I come in here to read stuff on the routes and cars which "Matt" hasn't built. I mean this in a nice way, but I find just reading Matt's this or Matt's that a little boring.

Well, seeing as how Matt and Tim are the two gents that have made most of the traction rolling stock, the discussion of their products seems most appropriate to me. I agree to the extent that I'm getting a little full of the PCC discussion, but at the same time, the sound file fixes and other tips on that car have been worthwhile (although repainting it's a real chore.)
Aside to Matt: keep cranking them out, and don't let a little thing like your upcoming ordination get in the way of your model building.

Hi,

tulloch, I must say personally I dislike your comment. But may be you have noticed that there are two Matt's, not one.
The PCC is build by Matt Harter. Other stuff is done by Matt Austin.
But both Matt's and of course Tim have done a great job so far.

And you are free to start a thread by yourself.

G'day Tulloch,

Well, reading this message did bring a smile to my face, as I've had a long and busy weekend! I'm not sure what Matt Harter or I (yes, there are two of us, although Matt Harter is capable of producing decent cabviews and silky smooth cars, something I'm yet to do) did to annoy you, but hey, you don't have to read our messages, nobody forces you to :-)

I post messages, not for some desire to 'big-note' myself, but to try and promote discussion on this board, which Nels has so kindly made available for us all. In the 'heavy rail' section, there wouldn't be the problem of any one designer's name coming up as there are so many, whereas traction is still limited, hence the desire to spark more interest in the traction forum.

Please feel free to start topic discussions, as there are many traction things you could discuss, living in Sydney, as you do. How about the New South Wales Government Tramways, one of the biggest in the English speaking world, until the last car ran in February 1961. Mabye you could discuss the Sydney suburban EMUs, which you seem to have named yourself after. Just suggestions, but any constructive input is welcome, on this friendly little traction board, which seemed to be free from flames until now!

Dave and Dick, thanks for the kind words. I'm still building stuff, although my free time is getting more and more limited. Dave, I'm trying to finish animated cabviews so I can release your Mesaba Electric car (and combine). What are the red/green/blue refs for the red you'd use for the car?

All the best Tulloch, please don't take this as criticism; it isn't intended that way, just trying to help the hobby grow.

Oh yes, if I post too much, does that mean I should stop work on my Victorian Railways D3 and J class locos? How about the AW and BPL passenger cars? :-)

Reading that made me happy.

As to the VR stuff, I never liked much Victorian stuff (I like bulldogs and thus like 'S' and 'B' classes) but thats about it.

I will start a post soon about Sydney's EMUs.

Regards,

Ben

I'm trying not to post too many times, I try to save up some information or questions and wait to see if they get posted by someone else.

The most interesting part of this forum is seeing other members investigate and improve contributed models. WAll of us can learn a lot from that.
