Interesting thread over in the General Forum...
http://forums.flightsim.com/dcforum/DCForumID1/8735.html
I have spent some time compiling what I hear regularly on UP, BNSF, NS around here which those who are dispatching MP sessions may wish to use...
DS to TRAIN call:
"UP Dispatcher 23 Omaha calling UP 3985 West, over..."
TRAIN responding to DS call:
"UP 3985 West, over..." or
"3985, over" or
"UP 3985 West answering, over"
Flagging red signals...
DS: "After stopping, UP 3985 west has permission to pass the signal displaying stop indication at control point 223 point zero, main track to main track" (other reasons appended to transmission i.e. "to get back on your train.", "looking out for train ahead.", etc.)
Crew will repeat authorization back verbatim. If not exactly correct the DS will not OK it until it is read back correctly.
Calling signals (I've only heard this done by NS crews but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen on other railroads)..
"NS 5998 Clear, South Liberty, Out."
"NS 5998 Approach, two-oh-eight-five, out."
"NS 5998 All-Red, WR, Out."
I've never heard a train call out it's speed or add other information to a signal call. Again, that doesn't mean it doesn't happen.
Advising of restricted speed zones (I've only heard this on Amtrak trains between conductor and engineer)...
"AMTRAK 303, 20 MPH from M.P. ____ to M.P. ____" (this is usually the conductor reading it from his Form A for the day)
Anyone else care to add standard coms they are familiar with? Cite the railroad/subdivision you heard it on...
