I hope having this forum ends the bickering. I have nothing against msts, in fact its still on my hd. I do take issue with the editor.... nuff said.... Trainz will take its place in the train sim world whether everyone likes it or not. Where that place is, depends on the beta testers, Auran and all the people who buy the game. I'm confident that trainz will measure up to anything thats out there. So lets not diss msts in here. I might make jokes about Bill on occasion but I do not want to return to the days of DOS, boot disks and bat files :)

Hopefully some of the Trainz beta testers (without there own websites) will post some of their screen shots here. It's really easy to upload them to this site. And it would also be a good central location as I don't believe you can upload to the Trainz website. Once it's pasted here you can always link it to your posts over at trainz.
Anyway I look foreword to lots of screen shots.
James.

May I just say a big thanks to Nels for listening to us! This new forum should keep us all in our respective cages ;>).
Trainz screenshotz so far looking very cool - track might need a bit of cosmetic work but very promising so far especially the scenery.

I do always listen...I may not always agree, but I do listen :-)
It did seem like the right time to get this going. I imagine we'll need a full Trainz Forum here like with have for MSTS before long. It looks like an exciting product.

Quick question, will the routes designed in the Trainz editor be transferable to MSTS?

In That Xase Sign Mye Up for Trainz (Even though It Probably Won't be Available to the American Public due to Microsoft trying to get their Train Simulator on the ropes..)
I've Seen the Videos (and Shown My Friends here in the States) and if the Surveyor is anything that's It Cracked up to be..(and I think it is..) Then this Program would give MSTS a Run For it's money for Easy of Building Routes...(Instead of WEEKS just DAYS to put together any route...(Much Better Control I might add.. (Adding a Bridge No Problem there..)
Frankly I'd Defect in 60 Seconds if I knew that Aurun was going to release Trainz to the States..(Lots of Model Railroaders here..!)
Any Chance???

LAST EDITED ON Oct-15-01 AT 11:28PM (EST)[p]Quick answer to that, yes it will be released in the states. Available to be orderd from Auran on-line (and have cd posted) approx early Dec 01 and in the shops approx your spring 2002. Auran is announcing who the distributor will be later today.
I have been a MSTS user since the first day, and as of now am not planning on buying the new Auran Trainz. (I have already spent to much time on the MSTS learning curve and have downloaded to much stuff onto the old HD--plus CIV3 will be out but thats beside the point)
BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT
from the looks of those few screen shots MS/KUJU had better upgrade MSTS REAL QUICK, or had better do SOMETHING because Trainz looks a LOT easier to use, the CP engine looks MORE detailed, at FIRST GLANCE you can understand the route editor, ect.ect
I think the release of Trainz is a good thing, it could spur an arms (train) race between MSTS and Trainz, w/ the customer being the winner, or one could just give up, get run over by the other, and go the way of ALCO

I Concur Either Microsoft/Kuju Better Start Rethinking for MSTS 2 or else Aurun is going to rule the Roundhouse...
Already Aurun has a Leg up with Multiplayer Capabilities coming in Trainz..(Something MSTS Has Failed to Do and it tood until Flight Sim 7 (FS98) To get into their Flight sims...(Man Trainz might just win this guy over quick..
Just wondering how much this will set me back cost wise..

I have also been an MSTS user from day one but there is no way that will stop me buying Trainz now I've seen and heard what it is capable of. Fear not, the learning curve for Trainz will be a fraction of MSTS due to the neat Surveyor module. In fact I preordered it half an hour ago from the Trainz site for 99.90 Aust$ (around 51.29 US$).

I just got done uploading the Tunnel Movie from the Train Site and All I can Say that if this Program is going to be sold in the United States All I can Say is I hope computer Stores Like Electronics Botique or Best Buy or even Compusa Carries this product (For the 51.20 I think this program has got MSTS Beaten..(Now if there is someway to get either Trainz to be Multiplayer and All I have to say about this is that the age of Virtual Model Railroading will have come to age..
I mean think about it.. You're Piloting your train on a Virtual Route (That you could have created) and another person (Half a World away) could be running another train on the same Layout..(A third Person could be doing switching and a Fourth Dispatching (Literally Like Centralized Traffic Control (CTC) as we Call it here in the US...)
in short I think Trainz might Make the Leap that could make Model Railroad Hobbyist stand up and take notice..(The Day of the Actual Physical Layout is on the Wane (as a Lot of Folks Just do not have the space to build a Layout..) the Virtual Layout is at Hand..
Just My 2 Cents here..

If you go to the FAQ section and Information section on Auran's Trainz site (http://www.virtualtrainz.com) you will find some information concerning future on-line capability.

Boy, I can hardly wait for Trainz!! Screenshots and Moviez are kinda making MSTS look primitive!
