Now that the BVE forum is closed at Crotrainz, I guess this will be the main BVE forum. I hope that the idiots who ruined the last forum don't ruin this one also.

What happened to it? I just signed in and it's gone - was there an argument?

I don't think so, Jon! From what I've read over the past few
months, I don't think the problem was entirely the users. There
were very few really abusive users from what I could see, but
there was a constant backdrop of users correcting users for really
mild matters. In fact there was one post this morning that went
along that grain.
I've seen other forums where people were getting bent of shape and telling others it was against the rules to quote a post or to open more than one topic a day while they had 1.2 meg full screen banners
below their signatures. Nels justs want people to stay on topic and
be civil to each other. (Yes he has a banner size limit but you
can do a lot within it.)
I've been a member of Flightsim.com since before it was on the
internet, Nels' is a good guy.

No idea. But I suspect there was something along the lines of the personal attacks on people that have been going on over the past few weeks again, and Barney & Vern had had enough.
Its a pity, but life is full of those people who just don't get the message when theyre warned about something, and then mess everything up for everyone else.
Hopefully here people will be a bit more sensible - the crotrainz closure should be a big wakeup call that stuff can quite easily be deleted!

Yep, I agree
I think that we should take this opportunity to have a 'fresh start' on this forum, and get as many of the good, more mature BVE users to join as possible.

I am saddened by the closure of the Crotrainz forum, but I can fully understand Barney and Verns decision.
I only posted one or two times, but viewed the forum daily for the past year or so, and have followed BVE from pretty much the start.
I noticed the steady increase in posts along the lines of "you've spelt *something* wrong" or "use forward slashes in URLs" and other off-topic pedantic rubbish.
Lets hope that we can use this forum for newsworthy posts and mature discussion, and forget about the fools that lead to the closure of the Crotrainz forum.
We have ALL been warned!!!!
P.S. Shortly before the closure I saw a post pointing to a new Hong Kong route. Can somebody please post the URL. Thanks!

That means we all have new user names, except me, and ecoolier. I recognise him!
It is a good decition (spelt wrong?) but i am just hoping the valued members join up to the same forum.
To me it's like i have lost a group of (mates?) people i used to talk to.
Crotrainz will still report on news though- im glad of that!

It is good that another BVE forum has started here in place of the BVE forum that was deleted from Crotrainz/UK Trainsim.
Sure there may have been some people who did cause problems on that forum, but deleting that forum was a bit extreme. I did find that the moderators over there are a bit more strict on censoring posts.
I thought that just banning/deleting the troublemakers may have been sufficient?
Crotrainz site is virtually stagnant at the moment. UK Trainsim site is just ticking over.
Here's hoping that this new forum will lead to better things for BVE.
Cheers.

Nice to meet you all again :-)
I also hope that in this new BVE forum, less problems will come up.
My feeling is that sometimes moderators just have to delete messages which don't follow the rules. That did not happen lately in the crotrainz forum, so everybody thought he could write what he wanted regardless of making any sense or not.
Well, I'm going to announce RouteBuilder related stuff here.
Great: there are more smilies here :D

Is Route Builder still on schedule for an Easter release? Also, how are you going to organize routes in fictitious countries on bve-routes.com? I am looking very forward to the release!

No, before the BVE forum at Crotrainz was deleted, the mods deleted a total of 3 offending threads in 15 minutes!

I still dont like the fact that we r talking in a forum where BVE is regarded as a "secondary" software (i.e. This forum is targeted for MSTS lovers)

BVE is not considered as a secondary simulator. Fact is, there's
been almost no support of BVE on the North American side of
the pond, and I asked Nel's to add the BVE forum to help change
that. If Barney gets rid of BVE support all together when he's
done with whatever he's doing to his site then perhaps we can
convince Nel's to add some BVE related file libraries. We
have to convince Nel's there's enough support to justify such
a move though.

That would be great. BVE needs more support and one of the first things that should be done is too get BVE listed on the major trainsim sites.

Hi,
>Is Route Builder still on schedule for an Easter release?
Yes, it is. Functionality is nearly complete for 1.0 now. Last weekend, we finished 99% of the Addon interface and two Addons (station sign creator and cylinder object creator).
>Also, how are you going to organize routes in fictitious
>countries on bve-routes.com?
Hmpf, who needs fictious countries ... aren't there enough in reality?
;)
Well, I could make a fictious flag with a questionmark and write "fictious countries" ... but most fictious routes could belong roughly to real countries, for example the Nearburg Transport Authority which I put under USA. Nobody complained yet ;)

Hi all,
FYI the problem was due to the "bve brothers" ripping off material and using it in an illegal product. When the owner complained, a war started up by the kids and their mates got Vern so annoyed he went and closed it. So now you know - there is discussion underway to restore some kind of service at Crotrainz but right now Barney and Vern just want a breathing space.
I hope I will be welcome here...?

Come on, let's have a real tough BVE math question to give us something to chew on.
Looks almost like home here.

Ok then Anyone willing to give an appropriate method
for working out transitiponal graidents..
ie From flat into slope gradually over some z..
In real life slopes don't just start there usally some
kind of 'vertical' curve..
Next problem how to generate suitable senic items on automatic..
(with 'horizontal curves as well and a way genarting different guages
and Snowdon here we come! ;-) )

I'm very sorry to say goodbye to Crotrainz forum, having been reading it (with the very occasional post) for many months.
I look forward to a continuation in this forum, especially the very real help that so many people offered to fellow trainsimmers.
