An extension of the Red Line to the Airport has recieved the final OK and funding from the NVTA board. Aviation station will now be renamed because it is no longer the link to the airport. Aviation will now be called 'Friendship' in honor of the adjacent Public Park and Visual Arts Plaza, and two new stations will be opened: Museum and Nearbug Airport. The airport station will be located within the Domestic terminal, which is approximately a ten minute walk from the International terminal. Complimentary Redcap service is available for passengers with luggage traveling between the two terminals.

Features of the new stations: Museum will be elevated, adjacent to the Museum of rail history. The museum's north wall borders the SVC ROW.

The line will then drop to grade and go through an industrial area before rising back up onto an elevated structure and entering the terminal building at speed, running between a wall and a moving pedestrian walkway, with floor-to-ceiling high-strength tempered glass between the walkway and the tracks. The trains will then slow as the line splits into three tracks for the platforms. The centre track will allow boarding from either side and serves as a short-term storage/layup track as there is no stub track beyond the station.

Any comments/questions/whatever, feel free to post, email, or PM and ask! :)

I love the whole idea of NVTA and I think the website is well presented and polished. Only one or two problems on it such as Nearbug instead of Nearburg.

I have an idea for an additional line which I would be happy to help with a Airport Express line. (Heatrow Ex/Gatwick Ex) It could leave the centre of Nearburg and use existing lines and new lines to create an express train to the airport, much like the ones in the UK.

Thank you! I just find it hard to believe I didn't come up with it sooner! ;)

Actually I am looking into several options for travel between the Nearbug Int'l Airport and the Farburg Regional Airport. One of them is a monorail. The idea of a Heathrow-express style route has been brought to my attention before as well, but I'm going to stick with this option. The Red line does offer semi-fast service from 5am to 10pm and airport-only express trains (Nearbug Airport to Stapleton/Lawrence, making a stop a Dunn Loring only) running every 30 minutes 5am to 10pm and every hour on the hour 10pm to 5am.

So as far as getting you to the airport in no time... you're covered! ;)

Also, the name was officially changed from Nearburg to Nearbug some time ago.

I don't like the driver's driving skills... He always uses the EB, I know that because the braking sounds cut off... :o Where's my refund? ;)

Refund eh? Ooops, I seem to have dropped it onto this large rail on the left of the track. Well, you can get it. ;)
