I remember a post somewhere on the max length of a route, but I don't remember the number. Also how wide is the default BVE world, and can it be made wider with a command or by extending ground cover?

100km. I think the longest was 100km(or was it 1000km?).

PS MY 1999 post!

I think it is much much more than that i have already got to 10000?!

PS. My 23rd post and I am pround of it!!! :)

Joshim are you certain you don't mean you have gotten to 10,000m? Because 10000m, or 10000 in BVE, is only 10km.

The maximum limit for BVE route length, as of BVE 2.3.11, and unchanged as of yet, is 1000km, or 100000m.

The other limits of BVE as of BVE 2.3:

Route Length: 1000km.
Freeobject Placements: 4096
Freeobjects, defined: 256
Walls: 16
Dikes: 16
Rails, defined: 64
Rails, in BVE: 16
Grounds: 256
Cycles: 256

The other limits of BVE as of BVE 2.5:

Route Length: 1000km.
Freeobject Placements: Unlimited
Freeobjects, defined: 65335
Walls: 256
Dikes: 256
Rails, defined: 256
Rails, in BVE: 16
Grounds: 256
Cycles: 256

These are basically the only things you could conceivably run out of. Left out are the number of times you can place signals, stations, the number of times you can use the railtype or other commands, but these are presumed to be unlimited. Not many people would probably want to drive a route with more than about 100-125 station stops in it anyhow. The Piccadilly, with 104, takes about three hours to drive, and as much as I would like to, I don't generally have 3 hours to commit to driving a train in BVE. As for signals, to my knowlege, no one has encountered a limit. It is likely unlimited.

Thats probably much more than you wanted to know but hey, if you can get all the info in one place, why not? ;)

PS: Edinburgh to Carnoustie by Don Clarke (great route, click to www.gotopcs.net to get it, and the Bo'Ness branchline) is 114km long and still growing, fully functional in BVE 2.0 and above! :)

Hmm Thanks for the information on limits..

A question I have though concerns viewing angles I think.

How wide in m is your Horizion at 600m?
An answer to this would be useful as it could
have an impact upon how wide to make certain
ground types (esp. when going round curves..)

There is also the question of curve/turn limits
and .Gradient limits. However these are more likley
to be prototype 'limits' in respect of what actual railways
use as opposed to program limits.

Any ideas as to typical figures?

If anyone can recall what radius the Caxton Curve is, I'm pretty
sure that (barring trams and LRV) is almost at the minimum
for normal rail operations..

As far as my ground tetures go they are +/- 500m from dreving rail, although my canary wharf docks, range from -250 to + 100, but I think 250 is the limit?

210 ft or 63m. But even at 82m, all the tunnel walls are caving in on the track...
