Adam Smith Line - Problem

Hello,

After the excitement of the release of the Adam Smith Line, I have hit a problem. I can't upload my file to my own website. Do you know where I can host it? The file is worth a whopping 10.8MB.

Why is it 10.8MB? Even the ELL is only 7MB unzipped. And the Northern Line only 15 MB unzipped.
Maybe try saving the bitmaps in 256 colours insted of 24 bit. It almost halves the size of the bitmap.

You seriously need to optimize your sound/object files I think to reduce the size....

Goodness gracious! My ENTIRE NVTA folder... which includes almost all objects for red blue green yellow lines and SVC is 16.4mb unzipped.

Even if I throw all of that into one SFX file, its only 2.78mb.

Add in the sounds for all routefiles and its about 4mb. If you can find a way to upload it somewhere, I can download it and check out the compression/extraction method you're using and put it into an exe self-extracting archive. Unless the Adam Smith line takes up all 1000km possible in BVE, I don't think it would be a 10.8mb download.

Also, make sure you're not distributing files that are in the folder but may not be used by the route. I frequently build an object, then discard it, but I must be careful to remove the object and its related bitmaps from the directory before packing this for upload.

I can provide more tips if you like. Also, if you want to contact me on AOL instant messenger sometime I can complete the transfer via AIM and pack it thusly, since you're having trouble uploading it. A link to my screen-name is above.

I do not have and am unlikely to get MSN messenger so don't wait up for me on it. ;)

10 MB. Did you zip the file, or did you just put the folder on your website. The picc. is about 30 mb unzipped, and when zipped its only like 6.

File compression works in strange ways. One time I zipped a 1MB+ archive and it came out to around 1KB.

Don't want to jump to conclusions, but it seems that this is his way of saying that the route will not be released..........

Make sure you select zip to the Maximum, which takes longer.
