Wonder how long it'll take for most people to find this place on the bottom of the list? LOL!

When someone makes a off-topic post up there and someone yells at them we have a forum down here.

Well to get it started. I have ad aware 6.0 and it removes adware/spyware. But it keeps removing the same thing. What do I have to get to root out the main spyware file and keep it from throwing pop ups? The pop up blocker that came with windows XP or whatever it is only blocks a few of them.

Chad, I have both Ad Aware 6.0 and a firewall called "Zone Alarm Pro". I have had not one popup since I got it. I am unsure as to where my Dad got it from. I think you might have to purchase it.
Icy, Top forum!! Its something that we have been neededing for a long time now! :)

Try out a program called Spybot...it might help.

Also, quit using MS Internet Explorer. Because of a known java bug (plus a boatload of other things) websites can install programs, including spyware, without you ever knowing it.
My suggestion would be Mozilla Firefox. Not only does it keep pesky spyware off my puter, I haven't had a single pop up since I started using it.

You can get ZoneAlarm for free. :) ...somewhere

I too recommend Mozilla Firefox, Ad-aware and Spybot (I use both, as each will find things the other missed) but I prefer Sygate's Personal Firewall to Zone Alarm. You might want to check it out (it's free for personal use)

Try Spyhunter.
It finds much, much more than ad aware or any other spyware removal program. I'm using it in combination with Sygate personal Firewall, McAfee virusscan and stopzilla to block pop ups, and it has been about 2 months ago I got some spyware inside my computer.

I'm almost exclusivly using Mozilla Firefox. It's really good at 0.9.1 :). Thunderbird, the MAIL app, is better than outlook express too, if ya ask me :P. I'm using AVG for antivirus. Works great and it isn't a resource hog like Norton Was. It's FREE TOO :) (well, the free version anyway :P). I run spybot all along too :)

I think you will find that surfing your surfing activities, you will continue to pick up the same annoying cookies and such, which have to be continuously removed. It is a major pain pain but seems an awful lot of sites insist on planting data mining and spy cookies on your machine.
The Google Tool Bar has been a godsend for me. No more pop-ups and it has blocked 2091 pops since December 15th.
I think I liked the web better when it was mostly text and hyperlinks without all this glitz, cookies, adverts and spy junk.

Zone Alarm can be found here:
http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/home.jsp
The "Pro" version is payware and comes with all sorts of gadgets and goodies, while the "Free" version is just that--a free version with only one function: FIREWALL.

Cool!
And remember...
In promulgating your esoteric cogitation and in articulating your amenable and philosophical observations beware of platitudinous ostentation. Let your extemporaneous incantations and unpremeditated expiation have intelligibility without hyperbole and bombast. Be assiduous in avoiding polysyllabic profundity, vacuity and interminable verbosity.

Hiya everyone! My name's Megan and I'm new here. My boyfriend actually got me involved in this, NW 1218, but we like to call him John. lol Anyway, I know I probably sound dumb, and please forgive me if I do. I want to learn more about trains, and John has already started by trying to introduce to me horns. Now, I am a quick learner, but my memory isn't perfect, so if anyone would be willing to help teach me more about trains, I'd really appreciate it. I promise I'll behave! Thanks a lot.

Hi Megan...I would be more than happy to share my knowledge of trains with you. I think its great to see blokes getting thier "other halves" involved with trains! :D I did with my last girlfriend.
BTW: Just remember...General Electric = GOOD EMD = Not good!
Welcome to the forums.
Rob...Im not a mod any more...but I would guess polls are not allowed here.

You have got to be kidding! You can't beat a Dash 2! Ya know that the SD40 and the SD40-2 sold more than all of the U-Boats -- combined. That must show ya a little somthing there. :7
BTW, I wish I could get my girlfriend interested in trains. :D

You might try WEBWASHER - It's a freebee and will filter out almost everything but you'll have to watch your settings because if they are too tight it will affect your downloading on many sights. The same applies to Zone Alarm and most other good filters.

I don't think they are allowed in any forum anymore. Correct me if I'm wrong.
