Don't know if this was what you are looking for or not .. ;-)

How many of you people play something? I do
What do you play? MSTS
How Long have you Played it? 'bout 3 years now
In a band/group/orchestra? Just in my own roundhouse

Seriously, being a retired music teacher (dual vocal/instrumental, public and private) you don't want to know. Just suffice to say, that most of us can 'play' them all, but in reality you wouldn't want to be around when we do. Therefore to answer the questions .. keyboards/brass, 56 years, in most every 'dive' for 150 miles around. Got tired of 'duckin' missiles' and gave it up a few years back. MSTS is so much more forgiving ;-)

I play Tenor Saxophone and Piano.
Piano for about 8 years now, Saxophone for 5.
I play piano just for myself, but as far as Saxophone goes, I play it for school in the Marching Band, Concert Band, and Jazz Band.

My scratched-up and dented Marching Band sax:

I play my brother's bass on occasion. My friend Aled was right, if you can count to 4, you can play bass.

I have a DW 7000 double bass drum pedal and a Pearl high hat stand...(forget the numbers).....all my cymbols are Sabian B8 Pros, my snare head is an Evans coated/wax, my floor tom is a ebony pinstripe by Remo, with Remo weatherking pinstripes on my mount toms.

A friend and I built a hammered dulcimer a few summers ago, but I couldn't get my head around the chords. I've still got it and wish it was more than just a "conversation piece," but I haven't played it in some time.

>How many of you people play something?

I do

>What do you play?

Keyboards/piano, drums, bass guitar, baritone/euphonium, trombone, cello.

Kind of a "Jack of all trades, master of none." ;)

>How Long have you Played it?

Keys- 30 some-odd years.
Drums and Bass- around 20 years.
Baritone/euphonium- Only played in junior high/high school.
Trombone- Only played in high school.
Cello- Played for year. Cello just wasn't "cool". Well, neither was baritone/euphonium, but I liked them.

>In a band/group/orchestra?

I played baritone and euponium in concert and marching band in junior high and high school. I also played trombone in jazz band in high school.

I was in orchestra with cello.

I was in several bands in junior high and high school playing keys. Favorite was a Devo "tribute" band. :) Also played drums in a high school band. Never played bass in a band, only in the studio.

After high school, I played keys in a few commercial top forty dance bands, (a-la Malice) but they didn't last long because I hated it.

After that, I discovered I was better at recording music than playing it. So now I make my living as a recording engineer, and only play for personal entertainment. :D

>Pictures?

I have some good ones in "Devo" get up, but don't have a scanner. :(

I play guitar/keys and have been writing for about 5 years now. I'd like to be in a band again. It also seems to be true about girls and band people! I also do sound engineering, and the odd bit of studio work at university.

Chuck, that's totally awesome!!!!

Me and my freinds are starting a band....planning on punk/rock/metal. Me? I am mostly punk.....(Go Ramones!)....My freind Wes plays bass (he's awesome at it) my freind Bobby on guitar, possibly Jon on background guitar, and my good freind Samantha will sing.

Really looking forward to it, since we all care so much about the music. Besides trains, music is something that really keeps me alive.....(listening to the Distillers right now:)) Hopefully if all goes well, we'll have an underground cult following ;)

Seriously (goes off into rant mode) I don't want to sell out,, or even be popular (I don't have anything against meeting people tho).....I just want to get up there, play are music, and know we've tried. Get up there, and play our music.-Jeffrey

I play an odd instrument called a camera ;) IMO it has some of the best music that I have ever heard ( the click of the shutter snapping that perfect shot ) It also puts out pretty good stuff ( to see some samples check out my photo album link here www.freewebs.com/smp1151 ) and it's quite an easy instrument to play :P

Actually, I just started playing guitar :D I will post some shots of them when I get some new stuff.

I Played the Trombone in High School. I was in the Jazz band there at Brush Colorado.... Glenn Miller who is another Trombonest was from Fort Morgan which was 7 miles away.
I got into Arranging my own music and Had a good version of Basin Street Blues that I played that was arranged so the trombone had the Melody. I am in the future going to pick it back up as I really enjoyed playing.

I myself play guitar, and have been since i was 15.I've had a slew of guitars(sorry all my pictures are photos,no scanner)My first guitar was a Cort sunburst strat which i modified with dimarzio pickups(distortion,PAF)had the thing routed out for 2-humbuckers like Dave murray of Iron maiden.Since then I've had other Fender strats, lots of jackson strats(my fav)would be my Jackson DK2 with EMG active pickups, and a floyd rose trem, and flamed maple top(sweet)and last guitar i bought was a Gibson les paul, trans black(made for musicians friend only),how-ever i soon sold it cause the fret work really sucked on this guitar(Gibson don't make em' like they used to)As far as Amps,I have a LINE6 XL Flextone amp.great for recording, and i can get any amp sound i want out of it(nice). My other equipment would be a Boss DR-5 rythym machine.I use it to keep the beat, and use it to record,i just preset the drum parts and bass, then run it into my home stereo, along with tape deck and i'm all set.I don't play in a band(never have),but i do lay down tracks and record, not much anymore.Who do i listen to...I'm on a Megadeth trip right now, although i do listen to Vanhalen,Aerosmith,Scorpions,Queensryche,Iron maiden, typical heavy metal stuff, but you won't hear me listening to death metal,or satanic crap.My style?I'd have to say megadeth, with a taste of Aerosmith, kinda funky, raunchy heavy metal with a taste of blues and harmony.Don Shriner(formely sd80mac)1,764 posts and counting.

I play the trumpet. Mostly classical/orchestra, although occasionally I do dances, like ragtime/tango etc, and some wedding stuff. Right now, I play with the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra (www.nmso.org) and have been since the beginning of 2004, and this summer I've been doing some work with the Santa Fe Opera (www.santafeopera.org). I play in one opera, and in one scene I'm onstage in a costume! Check it out:

The opera takes place during medeival times, hence the tunic
http://home.comcast.net/~markhyams/costume.jpg

Here's the brass quintet that I'm in. We played together a lot when I lived in Boulder, CO, but not so much anymore. www.tonicbrass.com I'm the second from the left.

I've been playing music in general for over 20 years, trumpet about 14 years.

saw a Hard Day's Night in the summer of '64. Bought a cheap Japanese made acoustic. practiced all day and into the night...

Bought a used Harmony electric for $35 for my birthday in September. Played my first gig (private party) on New Years Eve...

Played in bar bands during the 60s and early 70s.

Got back into music about 10 years ago. have played with too many to mention: blues, classic rock, jazz, folk, country, zydeco, r&b, reggae and everything in between...

I am a guitarist, keyboardist ....for more years then I care to realize.....high points were early 1980`s, I played in two bands that went out on extended US tours as a third back up band....opening up shows for Survivor and Off Broadway. The low points were being too young....17/18 playing with guys in their mid twenties...they just ruined the "music" part of things. They were consumed with the business part......I just wanted to play and "kick ass".....I could care less about the music Biz....I wrote the music, went out and had a great time playing. Now, I play the Chicago area club scene when I feel like going out. We play to full houses.....two to three times a year.....rather then every weekend. I have vintage old gear.....original Mini Moog, Arp string ensenble...cut down Hammond B-3......stack of mid seventies MArshalls...souped up by my brother-in-law who is a guitar tech for Warrant, Poison and Winger.....when they tour. I have a 1972 Gibson Explorer, A Dean Star body, and a wicked ESP......built.....destroyed in my wilder times....rebuilt again :)

We do alot of 1980`s Metal.....Maiden, Rainbow, UFO, Kansas, Whitesnake....etc.
