I bought this '83 Venture for $500 about a year ago...

It's been stripped over the months. All the plastics were broken, brakes were gone, and way too many fru fru attachments (like the trailer hitch etc), so I took it down to the frame. It's slowly being rebuilt. Since I only plan on adding a new tank and seat to the basic frame it will have a much lower center of gravity (These Ventures were top heavy) and a tad more "wumph". Not you're usual "chopper" candidate, but we'll see what happens.

Does the 83 have the V-Max motor?

Yes and no...It's the same motor but without the boost. I did have an old Rider article on how to add the V-Max parts to the Venture...I'll bet I still have it.
Thinking on it though, 1000cc without the boost is probably more than enough bike for me. At 50 I'm hoping to stay around for a few more decades :-)

This one's from 2 years ago, that old Yosh pipe has been replaced by a much nicer D&D.
Less power than a Loco, but nevertheless my "oldie" climbs the hills like in its early years...
