Don't have any pictures, but decades ago I drove a White 2000 and several thousand gallons of gasoline out of the Gulf depot at Girard Point. Four or five trips a day on a daily basis. It was all local runs (within 50 miles of Philadelphia) putting 60 feet of rig into spaces I wouldn't park my car...

I kept wondering how the guy with the convential Marmon (with double sleeper) made his deliveries to the same spots. Had to be at least 80 feet overall. On the upside it was a V-8 with full options, so it was more like driving a Cadillac then a truck. Even so, I still wouldn't want to have to scissor it into some of those tiny gas stations we served.

Lot of great stories from that part of my life.

Waking up before dawn for a 16 hour day finally got to me, so I went back to a nice office job. I do miss that little White. We even used it for grocery shopping (kid you not). She finally fell apart about a year after I left her. Cab came completely off the frame along I-95. Fortunately, the driver survived.

Here is one of my bosses Cattle Trucks. He has about 10 of them and they all look the same... So you have an idea of the fleet.

some nice cab-overs I prfer there looks.. kinda makes me the minority though :P

But hey, Those eruo rigs like the first pic, do they hual just as hard as the rigs here? i.e. cargo weight, etc. cuz to me, seeing a 2 axle tractor and a 3 axle trailer just looks a bit odd

Icy, to answer your question about Euro rigs..Usually no.

Europe has very few Conventional cabs due to lenght restrictions.

Also, someone verify this for me, but the trailers may be single wheels on the axles..Also, the tractors usually only have a single rear axle, as most of ours have 2.

Cab overs are not all that great to a drivers perspective. One they ride rougher. and second the driver is the first thing that hits when in an accedent. I kinda like having that engine out infront of me. Also cabovers are more cramped inside due to the dog house where the engine is. You have to crawl into the sleeper... Conventionals you can walk into the sleeper.
