I thought I might like to show how stupid some of the internet providers ACTUALLY are here in Australia.
At my part time weekend job on Saturday, I was installing the new Broadband internet, it was all fine until the email wasnt working, thanks to Outlook Express. I then rang Big Bond (Telstra) to say I am having problems with my email inbox.
What do they do!??!?! SEND ME AN EMAIL on how to fix it!!!! x(
Anyone else think this is a LITTLE stupid?!

I'm constantly under attack... and who attacks me? My ISP, and other ISP's...
Send my ISP (tiscali (The Netherlands ;) ) an e-mail, and what do they say...?
This IP adresses aren't from us. (!!)
The WhoIs of my firewall gives me quite detailed information... Tiscali Netherlands B.V. with the adress, the name of the person in charge of the PC where the attacks comes from and so on...
Not really big fun, but quite idiot...
regards,
René
P.s.: blocked IP adresses manually, but they keep trying...

I once had Earthlink, now I have SBC Ameritech. Since the whole mess struck me as so wierd I saved the email exchanges in a text file before I cancelled Earthlink:

I have a problem that just started last week, when my daughter sends me jpeg pictures as an attachment they are unreadable. It has to be on my end, because my oldest son and my other daughter are getting the same files with no problems. The attachments are somehow getting garbled before I get them.

I don't think you understood me, IE explorer is perfectly happy to
open any jpg file I get from the internet or scanner or conversion from another paint program. My Email attachments work fine when I send a jpg OUT to someone else, but when someone sends ME a jpg it arrives in my mailbox converted somehow to a text file. Saving it as a jpg doesn't help either, because no image viewer recognizes it as a valid graphic file format.
I'm sending you an attachment of exactly what I received.

Man, that's all I need, minimum wage morons typing keywords into some kind of troubleshooting wizard program, then happily disgorging whatever answer spews out without the slightest understanding of what any of it means. Do you people have any actual support techs?
I can VIEW any jpeg either downloaded from the internet or copied from a disk, that's not the problem. Until last week I could also view any jpeg that came to me in an email attachment. I'm not GETTING jpegs in the email now, something at YOUR end is intercepting the jpegs and garbling them or converting them to text files before sending them on to me! Would you PLEASE look at the attachments to this message?!
